American Optical's model that was introduced in 1958 originaly called Flight Goggle 58, now better known as the Original Pilot Sunglasses. the model were created for the U.S. Air Force, to provide pilots with maximum protection, optical performance and comfort. These glasses are still today produced in the American Optical's facilitys in Southbridge, Massachusetts, the same place where the company was founded in 1826.
These glasses has over the years been worn by many icons, In the movie Easy Rider we could see the biker rebels riding across America using glasses from AO , and the Original Pilot was the first sunglasses ever to land on the moon when Neil Armstrong and the other members of the Apollo 11 team wore them.
