Pendletons products and philosophy is based on a time long before Columbus travelled to America. For the native Americans tribes a blanket always have been around and provided its owner with warmth and protection. Initially they were made of animal skins and later cotton from the wild that was woven and dyed with the pigments that nature had to offer. The European then brought the wool material and superficial colors that Indian tribes were using and brought into their traditional crafts. A detail of the fabrics and its colorful pattern was that each pattern told a story, either about something that had taken place or something that could be linked to its owner.
This legacy is exactly what Pendleton has been tending for since the start in 1863. And still today they are weaving the blankets in the traditional way with natural materials.
